Wisdom of the babylonians

Am sure am not the only one who has read this book by George S. Clason called the richest man in Babylon. I would recommend it highly. He had a really good point i which i will share with you here because i have been applying it in my own life and i know now it works. its hard work but if am going to be a good manager of Gods affairs in my life then something has to be done about how i handle my finances. The end of the month kinda always got me off guard there and at some point i decided enough was enough i was not going to live like a slave to money and i would not let it control me either so i looked at his formula quite simply really and i adjusted it to suit my needs and my religion. Here is how it goes

1/10 (a tenth) of all you earn you tithe - or give back to God in your own way remember it pays to be a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:7(NIV)

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.(how we handle material wealth is a barometer of our spiritual health. What will be the results of our giving? We should not give primarily to get, but Paul makes it clear that giving does lead to abundance. Cheerful givers experience God's love in a special way (9:7). They enjoy the spiritual blessing of participating in a rich harvest of righteousness (9:10).)

1/10 (a tenth) of all you earn you save - okay this was an extremly hard one until i realized it is true i never give myself or keep for a rainy day now that was painful..i have had a few experiences that teach you that having that extra something tacked somewhere is not such a bad thing. the bible does have quite a bit to say about this
Proverbs 21:20 The wise store up choice food and olive oil, but fools gulp theirs down.
Proverbs 13:11(NIV) Dishonest money dwindles away,   but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow.

2/10 (2 tenths) of all you earn you pay debts - this was a nice one. the bible and paying of debts

Romans 13:8 Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law

Romans 13:7-8 Pay to all what is owed to them: taxes to whom taxes are owed, revenue to whom revenue is owed, respect to whom respect is owed, honor to whom honor is owed. Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

and finally
6/10 of what you earn is for spending on house hold issues of pay for your living.

Now for a mathematical example ...suppose you earn 7,000ksh
1/10 = 700ksh of which you tithe or give to charitable causes
1/10 = 700ksh of which you save (and invest later in a profitable venture)
2/10= 1,400 ksh of which you pay creditors
6/10= 4200 ksh of which you pay for family issues like fees, rent, food and transport

remember its not always easy but a disciplined mind finally gets there.

Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow. (Proverbs 13:11 NIV)
